Briccetti calls for mandate relief, invites business to take part in Fix New York effort

Jessica Dinapoli covered Briccetti’s chamber for the Times Herald-Record visit and here is part of her report -”The Business Council, which operates like a chamber, has an agenda focusing on mandate relief for local governments, fiscal discipline and rolling back certain taxes.

This year’s elections will curtail any major gains in mandate relief, Briccetti said in response to a question from Richard Struck, the economic development director of Orange and Rockland Utilities. Politics will get in the way.
“It will be baby steps,” she said. “We will see things in bits and pieces.”

The Business Council also supports the Job Development Authority, a program that’s part of Empire State Development. The program provides financing for manufacturing and other private businesses with proceeds from the sale of state-guaranteed bonds.”

Briccetti reminded business that with a  free Fix New York co-branded website employers are able to share with their employees important information about issues that affect their business. In addition, the site showcases, in a non-partisan way, the importance of state and federal elections. They will learn about the candidates, statewide ballot issues and public policies which affect job security, their industry and the state economy, all the information they can consider when they and their family members go to the polls to vote.

“We feel that America works best when its citizens cast informed votes. Fix New York gives employers the tools to make that happen. The co-branded website educates and motivates employees and associates to get involved in the election process. It provides state-of-the-art voter registration, absentee ballot and early voting information, all with the simple click of a mouse.” added Briccetti.
