New health premiums could bring rate shock

Although a New York Times article reporting individuals shopping for health insurance in the state’s new health exchange could see a significant drop in premiums, a Forbes magazine analysis says New Yorkers still face premiums that are among the costliest in the nation.

The analysis covers the unique history of New York’s insurance market and says that while a drop in premiums is encouraging, that drop will not be uniform throughout the state and some areas may face rate increases.
